Femilift is an advanced fractionated CO2 laser technology used with a special applicator in a series of 3 office treatments by our gynecologist specialists. No preparation or recovery or real downtime is required and with topical anesthetic and precision application there is little to no discomfort. Contact our office or ask our staff about Femilift and if you are a good candidate for treatment.
Vaginal Restoration Q & A
What is vaginal restoration?
At Swor Women’s Care, the team offers FemiLift vaginal restoration treatments. FemiLift is a fractional CO2 laser that triggers collagen and elastin fiber regeneration within your vaginal walls. Vaginal restoration is nonsurgical and provided as an outpatient procedure. It’s an alternative or complementary treatment to topical creams and hormone therapy.
Why would I need vaginal restoration?
As you age, your hormone levels decrease, which can lead to vaginal atrophy — a condition where the tissue in your vaginal cavity becomes thin, dry and weak. In addition to causing painful sexual intercourse, the weakness in your vaginal walls also decreases the strength of your pelvic floor and leads to symptoms and conditions such as incontinence, dryness, and pelvic prolapse.
In addition to the effects of aging, pregnancy and childbirth can tax your vaginal cavity and cause laxity and sensation loss. If you experience any of these symptoms, make an appointment at Swor Women’s Care to find out if vaginal restoration is right for you.
What happens during vaginal restoration?
FemiLift vaginal restoration only takes 15 minutes and doesn’t require anesthesia. During your treatment, you recline on a treatment table with your feet in stirrups, just like when you have a pelvic exam. Your provider inserts the FemiLift device into your vagina and turns on the laser.
You may notice a warming sensation during your treatment. Most patients report that the vaginal restoration treatment isn’t painful.
The fractional CO2 lasers penetrate the tissue of your vaginal walls and cause the collagen and elastin fibers to contract. The laser can also stimulate the growth of new collagen cells. Collagen and elastin are the tissues that keep your skin plump and elastic.
You may notice an improvement after just one treatment, but most patients have a series of treatments every two to four weeks for optimal results.
What should I expect when recovering from vaginal restoration?
You don’t need to take any time out of your regular activities to recover after a vaginal restoration treatment. Many patients have the procedure during their lunch hour. Your provider gives you specific aftercare instructions; in addition, you should avoid using tampons or having penetrative sexual intercourse for a few days after your vaginal restoration procedure.
