Childbirth, Labor and Delivery

Predicting when the baby is born isn’t easy. Most pregnancies last 40 weeks from the first day of the last menstrual period. Another way to predict is calculating 38 weeks from the day the baby was conceived. We provide our childbirth services at Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s new maternity care center.

When it’s time to go to the hospital you’ll want to be as ready as you can be. Having a backpack, including some clothing and toiletries is helpful. You should also include health insurance information, identification, Pre-registration paperwork and your birthing plan. You may want to also take important phone numbers, cameras and recorders, and anything else you might need during your stay for the baby. A baby blanket, newborn clothing and an infant car seat are required to bring the baby home. Don’t bring jewelry or other valuables.
