Hysterectomy is the surgical removal of part or all of the uterus. At Swor Women's Care, we tracked the last 1200 hysterectomy outcomes on our patients. Over 90% of patients had laparoscopic or robotic surgery and only 2 required laparotomy (big incision). About 50% of patients were discharged in less than 12 hours. The risk of any of the possible complications during surgery was less than 0.5%. Patients rated their postop pain score at 24-48 hours an average 2.5 out of 10. The average recovery to 50% of normal activities was 7.4 days. These statistics include almost 200 patients who had a major vaginal repair for prolapse at the same time as their hysterectomy. Patients rated their overall experience 4 or 5 stars in over 97% of cases.
