Dr. Swor has been in Florida most of his life, with some years growing up in the midwest.. He
received his medical degree from the University of
South Florida College of Medicine in 1981 and did his
ObGyn specialty training at the University of Florida in
Jacksonville. He
later earned an MBA in 1999 from USF College of Business
Administration.
Dr. Swor has been serving the Sarasota area for over 20 years. He is the chairman of the department of ObGyn at Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Systems. The department was ranked #1 in Florida in 2006 by US News and World Report.
He is an assistant clinical
professor in the department of ObGyn at USF Tampa
and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians
and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons. Dr.
Swor is also a founding member of the Accreditation
Council of Advanced Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy. He
has over 18 years experience in advanced Gyn and laser
surgery, and is a member of a number of professional
organizations.
His
interests are in new technology, advanced
procedures and surgical safety. In 2007, he became one of the few gyn surgeons in the country to use the Davinci Robotic surgery technology.

In 1992, he founded Surgical Safety Products, Inc., a company dedicated to improved patient care.That company is now Power
3 Medical,
developing new tests and treatments for cancer, Alzheimer's
disease and drug resistance.
In 1994, he co-founded the Center
for Advanced Surgery at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where
new surgical technology is developed and tested. In 1997,
he co-developed a healthcare technology system, Oasis Touch
Access Information and later, launched a healthcare web-services
company,
I Business Lab .
Dr. Swor has a longtime special interest in natural health alternatives. He provides consulting services to the Natural Hormone Institute of America and helps educate and train healthcare professionals in the use of bio-identical hormones and other specialty treatment.
In 2002, he developed a program to help
under-insured patients with prescription drug costs and currently
is participating in the development of a new weight management
program for clinicians to operate in their offices.
He
holds 6 US patents and has several other instruments and
devices patent pending or in development.
He
received a business of the year award from the Sarasota Chamber
of Commerce in 1997 and was listed in the Suncoast Best ™, BestDoctors™ and Best ObGyns in America. In 1998, he was honored with the USF Distinguished
Alumni Award for Professional Achievement. He
has six wonderful children and is married to a prominent
cancer specialist, who also practices in Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida. |
